Frequently Asked Questions

How are treatments administered?
A handheld wand is positioned directly on, or slightly above, the skin over the affected area, where it delivers a gentle therapeutic beam.

How many treatments will I need?
Most ACUTE conditions typically require only 5-6 treatments. CHRONIC conditions generally take longer and may require 6-12 treatments as well as one or two follow-up treatments each month.

How long does a treatment take?
Depending on the condition, treatment times typically last only 5-10 minutes, but larger body areas may require a little more time.

Does the treatment hurt?
Absolutely not! Most patients experience a warm, often soothing sensation during treatment.

How soon can I resume my normal activities?
The moment you leave the clinic, you may resume your normal daily activities. However, it is important not overexert for a few days, as the body is still healing.

How do I know if LLLT / Cold Laser / Class IV Laser is right for me?
The best way is to experience a laser therapy session. The goal of the first session is to see how your body responds to laser therapy. If your pain decreases, and / or your range of motion increases then we know that your body can be helped with low level laser therapy. If your pain and range of motion is unchanged, then cold laser therapy is not what is needed for your condition. The good news is you’ll know this in just one session! From there we can figure out your best treatment options.

There are many types of lasers, and the one we use in our Albuquerque office could be classified as:

Class Four Laser / Class IV Laser / Class 4 Laser. This means that it is a higher powered laser, with a laser diode over 500 mw. We will provide you with protective eyewear during your treatment.

LLLT (Low Level Laser Therapy). LLLT doesn’t burn or ablate tissue. We want to support the cells not burn them!

Cold Laser Therapy. Again, this means that our laser isn’t designed to burn or ablate tissue. However, since our Aspen Laser operates at the higher end of LLLT you will feel a nice soothing warmth during treatment, roughly the temperature of a warm washcloth. It’s very comfortable and pleasant!
